Accessibility Statement

Last updated: [date of publication]

Dentist Windsor is committed to providing dental care that is accessible to everyone, in line with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Ontario Human Rights Code.

Our Facilities

  • Wheelchair accessible entrance and interior
  • Accessible parking spaces near the entrance
  • Accessible washroom facilities
  • Clear routes with room to manoeuvre a wheelchair, walker or scooter

See office details and directions, or take an office tour to see the space before you visit.

Service Animals and Support Persons

Service animals are welcome anywhere in the practice open to the public. Support persons are welcome to accompany you throughout your visit, including into the treatment room.

Assistive Devices

You are welcome to use your own assistive devices. If a device makes transferring to the dental chair difficult, tell us when you book and we will plan the appointment accordingly.

Communication

We will communicate in whatever way works for you. Depending on your needs that may mean speaking more slowly, writing things down, providing information in large print, allowing extra time, or working with an interpreter you bring.

Tell us what helps. We would rather ask than assume.

Accommodations at Your Appointment

Let us know in advance and we can arrange:

  • Longer appointment times where more time is needed
  • Quieter periods in the day for patients sensitive to noise or activity
  • Arrival timed to reduce or avoid waiting-room time
  • Support with transferring to the chair, or treatment in a wheelchair where possible
  • Adjustments for sensory sensitivities, including lighting and noise
  • Breaks during longer treatment

For patients with anxiety, sensory sensitivities or conditions making treatment difficult to tolerate, sedation dentistry may also help.

Website Accessibility

We aim to meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA as required under the AODA, including keyboard navigation, sufficient colour contrast, text alternatives for images, and compatibility with screen readers.

If you encounter a barrier on this website, please tell us. We will fix it and, in the meantime, provide the information you were looking for in another format.

Training

Our staff are trained on accessible customer service under the AODA, including interacting with people with various disabilities and with assistive devices, service animals and support persons.

Service Disruptions

If an accessibility feature such as an accessible entrance or washroom is temporarily unavailable, we will post notice and let affected patients know in advance where possible.

Feedback

We want to hear about it if we have not got this right. Get in touch with feedback, a request for accommodation, or a complaint. We respond to all accessibility feedback, and you can request a response in the format that works for you.

A copy of this statement is available in an alternative format on request.
