Care at Every Age
Young children
First visits should happen around a child’s first birthday or when their first tooth appears, whichever comes sooner. Early visits are short and mostly about getting comfortable in the chair. See children’s dentistry.
School-age children and teens
Cleanings, sealants, fluoride, and monitoring how adult teeth are coming in. This is also when we flag whether orthodontic treatment is likely to be needed, so you can plan for it rather than being surprised.
Adults
Regular checkups and cleanings, plus whatever restorative work comes up — fillings, crowns, root canals. Adults are also when gum disease tends to show up, which is worth catching early.
Older adults
Dry mouth from medication, root decay, worn teeth and replacing older restorations. Where teeth have been lost, implants, bridges and dentures all have their place depending on circumstances and budget.
What Family Dentistry Actually Involves
The bulk of it is unglamorous and important: examining, cleaning, and catching things early. A cavity found at a checkup is a filling. The same cavity found eighteen months later is often a root canal and a crown.
Twice yearly suits most people. Some need more frequent cleanings because of gum health or a tendency toward decay, and some genuinely do fine on an annual visit. We will tell you which you are rather than defaulting everyone to the same interval.

We schedule family members back to back where the day allows. One trip, one parking spot, everyone done. Mention it when you book so we can build the slots in.
Coverage
We accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan, Healthy Smiles Ontario for eligible children under 18, ODSP, and most family insurance plans with direct billing.
Family plans often have an annual maximum shared across everyone. If you are close to it late in the year, tell us — we can sometimes sequence non-urgent treatment across the calendar boundary so you get two years of coverage instead of one.
Nervous Kids, Nervous Adults
Dental anxiety runs in families, often because a parent’s own bad experience gets communicated without anyone meaning to. We take first visits slowly, explain things before doing them, and never hold a child down. Sedation is available for adults and, in some situations, children.
